grab bored toddler and any suitable receptacles that can be found around the house. add 50 cents dry rice, add toddler and viola! instant, cheap fun! easier than sand, and completely non-toxic :)
reuse the rice for future play too. unless it gets eaten. as you can see, some unfortunate grains did not survive the experience...

wow isn't that hard to clean up?
we don't have any carpet in that area, so once he was done playing, it was pretty quick to sweep it up. but, i am sure there are still grains under the train table and kitchen appliances. :) p.s. just to update, he's played with the rice 3 times now, and this last time, he was quick to spread it as far and wide as he could (throws it, whips it around, kicks it). little bugger! i've conceded i need to take it outside... so much for indoor activity
Haha, at first I thought you said, "add 50 cents dry ice" and i was thinking? Why are you mixing rice and dry ice? And isn't it dangerous to let a toddler play with dry ice?? Now I get it. :P
