Check out the GIMP program...it's free and does everything Photoshop does without paying from $60-$800 for the software.
Have fun with it! This is my first stab at it using layers...(note the artsy fartsy black burn-in borders common for black & white prints made in the darkroom back when we used to get our hands wet moving prints from developer->fixer->wash)...)
